In 1942, two underage girls accused the Captain Blood star
of statutory rape. Although the this could have wrecked
his career, Flynn was found not guilty when the jury didn’t believe the
girls’ testimony. Flynn admitted liking young women and
saw his movie popularity skyrocket after the scandal, leading to the
phrase “In like Flynn.”
